"Put Intro Here"

From my whopping one semester of college so far, I did learn a good deal about geologic time which is, quite simply, the age of the Earth and its stages. The history of the Earth split into subdivisions of time beginning with eons, then eras, periods, epochs, and ages, each subdividing the previous one. Mind you, even just an age, the smallest grouping, is still millions of years long. These time periods are almost inconceivable for most people, despite it being an entirely anthorpocentric system of time and measurement. We try to remember we are ants on the scale of existence on Earth. The lives of humans are milliseconds in the realm of the maturity of the planet.

Until you are diagnosed with cancer. Then everyday of your life feels like its own eon. Waiting for test results or chemo sessions or for symptoms to dissolve can feel like absolute eternity and you realize this disease consumes your every thought and desire and dream.

And with that ray of sunshine, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Emily Prince. I am a proud Brewer at Vassar College. No, it is not still just a women's college, it went co-ed over 40 years ago, Google it... And as of January 17, 2014, I am official diagnosee of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Yes. Cancer. The Big C. Oh, wait that one may be copyrighted...

So I'm starting this blog partly to keep myself sane and partly because my mother keeps insisting that do something "interesting" and "out of my normal realm of thinking." And for all you haters out there, I understand that I'm not just automatically special because I have cancer, but you know what? I do have a voice and why not share it in this, how they say, "difficult time." Well. I bid you adieu because I'm writing this with a chemo headache. Ahh, the splendors of medicine...
